CARTUXA 60 YEARS TRINCADEIRA

The Cartuxa 60 Years Trincadeira is part of the 60th Anniversary limited edition by Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, one of six single-varietal reds in this collection. Produced in the Alentejo region on granitic soils, it is hand-harvested with strict grape selection. Fermentation takes place in large French oak vats (balseiros) of 120 hectolitres using indigenous yeast, followed by 14 months ageing in used French oak barrels. It has an intense garnet colour. On the nose there are ripe red fruits, floral notes, herbal touches, balsamic, eucalyptus, and sour cherry liqueur. On the palate it stands out for elegance, concentration, soft tannins, refreshing acidity, and a meaty, persistent, deep finish.
