The arbutus (Arbutus unedo) is a fruitful and ornamental tree. Its fruit is called arbutus and has high alcoholic concentration. From its distillation the Aguardente de Medronho is made. In Portugal, the Medronho can be found all over the country, but the highest concentration occurs in the mountains of Caldeirão and Monchique.
