FOJO 2013 RED

The Fojo (2013), the emblematic wine, is a blend of old vineyard field (planted at the end of the 19th century) aged for 12 months in new French oak. Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca predominate. Full bodied and exciting, good balance. Made to age. It would not be Fojo if it was not, but this modern 2013 Fojo (Quinta Do Fojo) is a little more accessible than some of the old powerhouses and just a little more round, maybe a little concession for modern times. Sometimes surprisingly sexy, it is a wine with a lot of advantage that simply lines the palate. If it's still not my 2013 favorite - it may well be - it's certainly going on the shortlist of candidates for the Best of Vintage. Robert Parker (2015)
