In 1918, Manuel Domingues Poças Junior, 30 years old, already had some experience of working within the Port wine industry. Initially, in partnership with his uncle he founded a company to sell brandies to the largest producers of Port wine. Eventually he decided to establish its headquarters in Vila Nova de Gaia, which even today remain in the same place.
"Contaminating" the whole family with his passion for wine, he always kept an open mind to innovation introduced by the new generations together with the respect for the tradition of Port Wine.
Continuing to be a family business, they have today three estates with excellent locations in the Douro Region. Quinta das Quartas, the center of Poças wines, Quinta Santa Barbara, where is produced some of the best Vintages and LBV and Quinta de Vale de Cavalos in Numão.
The Poças Ports are internationally known for their elegance, being pleasant and slightly dry, which makes them especially designed for wine lovers.
The location of the vineyard and careful winemaking produces a range in which the wines with an indication of age and Single Harvests stand out. Also the LBV, Vintage and the Ruby have built over time, a reputation for quality, proven by the many awards received.
Until the end of August , we have free Poças Port Wine tastings during the shop’s opening hours so you can be surprised with the quality of their wines!
